The Titan Outdoor Steel Fire Pit Liner is an awesome budget fire ring. The matte black finish and durable steel construction look amazing and perform incredibly well. Assembly took only 5 minutes and the included hardware was very high quality. The steel lip was great for hiding the edges of our paver stones and made for a seamless look. You can also just as easily sink this into the ground for a low impact design.
We were impressed with the large sizes this fire ring is available in as well. The 46” option is great for bigger backyards and allows for tall flames and crackling blazes. However, if you’re in a smaller space the 33” and 38” options will be better choices. Due to the thick steel design rust will hardly be an issue for this fire ring. If it somehow occurs, just rub it off with a scotch bright pad and give it a spray of high temperature paint. Overall, the Titan Outdoor Steel Fire Pit Liner is a great low cost fire ring. It can withstand the heat, rain and sun and will give you many nights of fiery fun.

Standing at 10 inches tall it is a perfect above ground fire ring and casts incredible shapes in the firelight. It’s also a great budget fire pit ring that won’t break the bank. We do have to warn you that it is made of rather thin material. This makes it prone to rusting through without proper maintenance. So long as you ensure it is coated in heat and rust resistant paint you’ll be fine.
The Landmann Big Sky Steel Fire Ring is the perfect size for 4-6 people. If you want more space we’d suggest going with the Titan Outdoor Steel Fire Pit Liner instead. The 26” diameter fire pit ring insert is perfect for smaller yards and cozy surroundings. Plus, it weighs only 5.7 pounds making it easy to lift up for cleaning and storage. During testing we found if you had too large of a fire coals could fall out of the cutouts. While not a huge issue, it is something to be aware of. Overall this is a pretty good budget fire ring especially if you like to forest creatures. However, we’d suggest going with the more rugged Sunnydaze Heavy Duty Diamond Campfire Ring if you can. It offers a cool look and will last quite a bit longer than the Landmann Big Sky Steel Fire Ring.

Made from durable 12 gauge material the Pilot Rock Heavy Duty Bolt-Together Campfire Ring is very rugged. This fire pit ring in manufactured by the same company who makes all of the federal rings in state parks and forests. Simply feeling the unit is enough to tell you that it is very high quality and clearly built to last. We also really liked the 8 sided shape as it provided a bit of visual interest for our patio. However, due to the more complex design assembly did take a bit longer. We were able to have it burn ready in just under 10 minutes.
One thing that really stood out to us was that this fire ring was made in the USA. It’s great to see some local manufacturing and as we said before the unit has superbe materials. We were also pleased to see the wind top flange which was great for installation with pavers. However it is also just as useful for in ground installation and helps to level and adjust the fire pit ring to just the right position. In summary the Pilot Rock Heavy Duty Bolt-Together Campfire ring is a wonderful, made in the USA fire pit that’s up to the challenge.

The 8 sided design gives it a more modern feel while still maintaining that rustic charm. Plus, at 30” in diameter it is perfect for mid sized yards. Anything larger and you’d risk it becoming the focal point (not that that’s a bad thing).
As with some of the other high end fire rings on this list, the ring and lip design allow for both above and below ground installation. We loved the versatility of the design and it’s works well in both applications. The black fire resistant coating is also very durable and showed no damage after multiple burn tests. Furthermore the Sunnydaze Octagon Fire Rings was a snap to put together, all we needed was a screwdriver and it was up in a few minutes. If you’re looking for a permanent or semi-permanent grill fire pit in your backyard, this is the ticket. The Catalina Creations Heavy Duty Fire Ring comes with an incredible 31” cooking grill grate. Not only that, but the grate is able to swing on and off the fire as well as be totally removed for storage or cleaning. We loved the versatility and large size of the grill, it made cooking larger meals a blast and they tasted great too.
Along with the grill, the entire fire ring itself was made of very high quality steel. It was extremely thick and coated with a matte black waterproof sealant for enhanced outdoor resistance. Assembly, as expected was very easy, although we did notice that a few of the screws were a bit short, so be careful not to strip them. Due to the 54 pound weight this fire pit liner isn’t very portable but it’s perfect for the backyard and once buried in the ground will last for years to come. This is also a great low cost alternative to our top pick, the Titan Outdoor Steel Fire Ring. While it isn’t quite a rugged it’s still more than durable enough for the job.
