If your hunting for the perfect propane fire pit for your RV, Camper or the backyard, the Outland Firebowl premium portable propane fire pit is a high quality easy-to-carry unit that is packed to the brim full of features and will keep you toasty warm on even the coldest of nights. Plus, you don’t have to worry about lugging around stacks of firewood, battling the smoke and having soot build up on everything you own.
With such an extremely innovative fire pit it’s hard to choose which of its many features are the best, but we’ll start with the overall size and portability of the unit. Weighing in at 24.5 lbs. this is one of lightest propane fire pits on the market. Not only that, but it comes with an included lid and carry strap that make it extremely easy to move around. We’re talking, it’s ready to go on a trip in a matter of seconds. Just slip the lid on the unit, attach the carry straps and you’re ready to roll.
If you want an even more refined carrying option you can grab the additional Outland Firebowl 760 Vinyl Standard Carry Bag. This makes sure nothing falls out and give you some additional load bearing points for the carry straps. We feel however that it is not necessary and the included straps function perfectly on their own. Size wise the Outland Firebowl is 10” tall, 18 ¾” wide and has a 5” deep fire bowl. This small form factor makes it perfect to fit in the trunk of any vehicle, RV storage bins or under a deck.
In addition to the lid and carry straps this propane fire pit comes with an included 10’ long hose with attached regulator so you can have your propane pit hidden outside the fire light. A stabilizer ring is also supplied so you can ensure your propane tank doesn’t get knocked over on accident. The last, but certainly not least, item included are the grey lava rocks, these provide a means to help disperse the propane and store heat so you can enjoy your fire all night long.
Another great thing about this fire pit is the full CSA approval, making it ideal for locations and campgrounds that have temporary or long term fire bans. In 99% of these areas the rangers and hosts will have no issues with the Outland Firebowl and you’ll be able to enjoy your fire in the untamed wild. Once you get to camp there are a million things to do, but this fire pit makes things a bit easier with its auto ignition and easy flame adjustment.
One of the only real downsides to this propane fire pit is that the propane tank is visible as it has to sit off to the side. Outland Living has developed a Vinyl propane tank cover that will make the tank a bit more discreet but it’s still hard to hide, especially when the gas hose is running to the fire bowl. However, we feel that for the size and portability this fire pit offers, a visible propane tank is a small price to pay.
With the propane tank hooked up to the gas hose a simple push of a button is all it takes to get a massive 58,000 BTUs of heat roaring out of this little package. The built-in flame adjustment knob allows you to easily control the flame height and heat output so you have the perfect fire for any situation. With a standard 20 lb. propane tank, you can expect to get right around 8-12 hours of burn time depending on the temperature. More than enough for 2-3 long nights of merrymaking. You can expect to stay warm around the Outland Firebowl Premium Portable Propane Fire Pit down to around 45 degrees making it usable for most of the year even in northern climates.
Once lit the Outland Firebowl premium portable propane fire pit has a very even and clean burn with little smell. We love the convenience of not having to lug wood to the campsite and keep poking and prodding the fire when we just want to sit back and relax. Once you’ve had the fire burning for 10 to 15 minutes you can turn it down to low and still have quite a bit of residual heat that is stored in the lava rocks. Space wise you’ll have no issues fitting eight grown adults around this and having room to spare. If you’re looking for an even bigger option you might want to consider getting the Outland Firebowl Mega Propane Fire Pit instead.
Because this is a propane fire pit there are no embers, sparks or ignition sources that fly off, making it safe to use on wooden decks and in covered areas that have a minimum ceiling height of 8 feet. Anything less and you’d risk the heat damaging the overhead material. We would recommend however that you don’t use this under an umbrella as the plastic and woven umbrella fibers are very prone to heat damage.
When you finally decided to head in for the night you only need to wait about 15-20 minutes for the Outland Firebowl premium portable propane fire pit to be cool to the touch. After that you can easily store in in the garage, under the deck or back in your trunk if it’s going to rain. If for some reason your fire pit starts to have issues down the line, you can feel safe in knowing that it has a 1 year manufactures warranty that covers just about anything that could go wrong with the unit. This is one of those buy it for life purchases.
Overall the Outland Firebowl premium portable propane fire pit is our top choice for the best portable fire pit and maybe even the best propane fire pit in general. Its awesome design, world class portability, 1 year warranty and automatic ignition make it an integral part of any backyard or camping experience. Once you make the switch from a wood burning fire pit to a propane one, your world will be changed forever. Whether you’re looking for your first fire pit or just looking to upgrade to a new one, the Outland Firebowl is an excellent and highly recommend choice.
