Have you ever dropped a grilling pan because of how hot it was and how your palms were stung by the pain? As a grilling enthusiast, this is certainly one experience you’ll have over and over again if you’re touching your grills without wearing gloves.

One thing is certain; there are tons of “grilling gloves” in the market and it will take a good deal of concentration and focus to sift through the pile. Fortunately, we did some sifting over the course of our research of different grills including charcoal, gas grills, and offset smokers.

Having tried out some of these grills in different grilling situations, we put together our thoughts about them here. Let’s find out which gloves made it to our list.

#1. Best Grilling Glove – MVZAWINO Premium BBQ Grill Gloves

best grilling gloves

The MVZAWINO Premium grilling glove is made from high-quality Aramid fabric and yarn material.

Like all grilling gloves, it has a strong cut resistance – almost 4 times the size of normal leather gloves.

It’s thick yet lightweight and to crown it, there’s the silicone material added on both sides of the gloves. Are they machine washable? Of course, they are and that’s not all. You can also wash them with soap and they’ll sparkle. One size they say fits all.

What to Look Out For When Buying Grilling Gloves

As we mentioned at the beginning of this article, there are tons of BBQ grills on the market and choosing one that’s comfortable and good enough for you isn’t always as easy as you think. We outlined a simple checklist to help you stay on course.

Material

BBQ gloves are made from a variety of materials including leather, silicone, and Aramid fabric material, to mention a few. However, it isn’t uncommon to see a glove made from a combination of two or more of these materials. The materials determine the heat tolerance of the glove.

Silicone, for instance, is used to make gloves that are malleable, waterproof and fire-resistant. It’s easy to wash and can simply be tossed into the dishwasher to get a bath if you so desire. But they can be bulky and the areas around the wrist can sometimes be made of flimsy materials that expose the body to burns.

Fabric materials are also used for making grilling gloves and there’s a special fabric material called the Aramid fabric. The Aramid fiber is heat resistant, is tough, breathable and keeps your hand safe and fresh. But they aren’t waterproof.

Hence a combination of both the fabric and silicone materials is key to getting the finest grilling gloves.

Lastly, there’s the leather material that gives comfort and offers some level of heat resistance. Sometimes, materials like neoprene are used instead of leather. They have similar characteristics to leather.

Comfort

grilling gloves

How comfortable are the gloves when you wear them? Does one size fit all? When you hold hot items, does the heat pass through the gloves to reach your fingertips? How heavy do the gloves feel when you put them on?

These are a few questions you need to answer. Here’s why!

If you BBQ gloves make you uncomfortable, you’ll end up hurting yourself when taking something hot out of the grill, for instance. In addition, inadequate comfort can cause you to lose grip on hot items and this, in turn, may lead to injuries.

Durability

How durable is it? The issue of warranty on low-cost items such as these is often overlooked. Ask questions, read people’s reviews and you’ll find out if the grilling glove you’re about to buy is going to last you for a decent period of time.

Cleaning

If you need special items to use in cleaning your BBQ glove, then you should have a rethink about such a glove. Cleaning your BBQ glove shouldn’t be rocket science – in fact, it should be as easy as tossing it into the dishwasher or washing machine and get it cleaned up.

You can use specially approved chemicals to wash away stains that stick permanently, but anything other than this is a lot of work.

Heat and Cut Resistance Levels

Lil Wayne once said, “no one goes around fire expecting not to sweat.” We couldn’t agree any less. Heat resistant gloves are the best for anyone looking for a good BBQ glove. Fortunately, a great percentage of the grills on the market have very high heat-resistance levels.

It is important to also take note of the protection the glove offers for the forearms.

Sizes

Some grilling gloves are advertised as one size fits all. But the truth is that it’s not all the gloves advertised as such that can fit all. In essence, get a glove that can fit most people – and if you have small hands/fingers, you should get one that is smaller in size.

Grilling Gloves Reviews

Below, we talked briefly about five highly sought after grilling gloves. The gloves we reviewed include waterproof and non-waterproof models. Take a look…

#1. Best Grilling Gloves – MVZAWINO Premium BBQ Grill Gloves

Material: Silicone and Aramid fabric

Features: heat and 4x cut resistance design, integrated silicone, multipurpose design, machine washable, one size fits all, long cuffs for forearm protection.

The MVZAWINO Premium BBQ Grill Gloves is thick, lightweight, and looks every bit of the word tough. It is made from a combination of tough materials like silicone and Aramid fabric. However, the chief material is the Aramid fabric.

For a largely inexpensive grilling glove, we least expected something with the kind of premium quality we saw on this glove. The MVZAWINO grilling gloves have a high heat-resistance level, one that sets them high above other gloves of its class. The rating hovers around 1472 degrees F.

We like the red and black color combination of the glove and, of course, the silicone patches on both sides of the gloves. Apart from serving as a grilling glove, you can also use it like a glove for welding and handling bonfires.

As for your forearms, your protection is guaranteed, thanks to the slightly extended cuffs on the glove. Let’s point out that although the glove is comfortable, ladies may find it a tad larger than their fingers but it doesn’t compromise comfort and usability.

#2. Artisan Griller Insulated BBQ Pit Gloves

insulated neoprene grilling gloves

Material: Neoprene

Features: Multiple sizes, made from textured neoprene material, lightweight and flexible, extended cuff for forearm protection, fire-resistant, waterproof.

If the MVZAWINO Premium BBQ Grill Gloves doesn’t cut it for you, and you’re looking for something that is more waterproof, then the Artisan Griller Insulated BBQ Pit Gloves will definitely catch your attention.

As expected, it offers a great deal of comfort and doesn’t in any way impede any activities you carry out with the gloves on. It’s somewhat flame-resistant and has a nice length – referring to our review model which was about 14-inches long.

Fortunately, there are two shorter models available if you’d rather have the smaller ones. With the extended forearm cuff on all the variants, the safety of your forearm is, to a large extent, guaranteed.

As we already mentioned, the Artisan BBQ gloves are made from neoprene materials. It is waterproof and as such offers a good deal of protection from boiling water and even hot steam. If you’ve ever felt the hotness of your offset smoker or gas grill on your forearms, you’ll understand why we love this long forearm cuff.

With respect to washing, simply hand-wash it with soap and clean cloth after each use.

#3. RAPICCA Fireproof BBQ Gloves

Material: Neoprene

Features: multiple size options available, neoprene coated material, waterproof, flame-resistant, internal soft cotton liner, stain-resistant, extended cuffs for forehand protection.

The RAPICCA Fireproof BBQ Glove shares quite a ton of similarities with the Artisan Griller Insulated BBQ Pit Gloves that we reviewed above. Starting with the material, it is made from neoprene coated material, just like the Artisan BBQ glove.

It’s available in a plethora of sizes with the largest being the 14-inch model which we reviewed in this article. The RAPICCA Fireproof BBQ Gloves is designed to withstand heat up to temperatures of up to 932 degrees F.

This is much lower than the heat level that our best grilling glove can withstand. However, it still holds up nicely against heat from most grills. As expected, the glove is also thick enough towards the forearm region and extends nicely.

RAPICCA isn’t really a proponent of the one size fits all, so if you have smaller hands, please check out the smaller sized gloves. Let’s also mention that the glove is water and stain resistant – what do you expect of neoprene gloves?

#4. GEEKHOM Heat Resistant Grilling Gloves

geekhom grilling glove

Material: BPA free silicone

Features: Dual layer protection, made from BPA free silicone material, heat resistant inner cotton layer, forearm protection with pull rope to tighten gloves.

The non-slip textured design of the GEEKHOM Heat Resistant Grilling Gloves is one innovative feature that is MIA in a lot of grilling gloves. With the external textured design, grabbing even slippery items is even a lot easier than you think.

It is waterproof, thanks to the silicone materials which, by the way, are BPA free. Aside from the external silicone material, there’s an inner heat resistant layer that is made from cotton and this, in turn, offers a good deal of comfort.

The GEEKHOM grilling gloves we reviewed are the 14-inch ones. GEEKHOM believes that one size fits all – and to a large extent, they fit many persons. However, if you have smaller hands, it certainly won’t fit properly.

Let’s not fail to mention that the glove has an extended forearm as well as a pull-rope for securing the glove to the forearm to prevent slipping when in use.

#5. GRILL HEAT AID Grill/BBQ Gloves

GHA grilling gloves

Material: Aramid Fabric

Features: heat resistance, multiple sizes and color options available, extended forearm, one size fits all model available.

Last but definitely not the least of the best BBQ gloves we’re reviewing is the GRILL HEAT AID Grill/BBQ Gloves. Small, comfy, waterproof, and tough are four words that best describe this glove.

The glove is designed to withstand temperatures of up to 932 degrees F and with its extended forearm, the protection is also extended to your forearms. Unlike the GEEKHOM Heat Resistant Grilling Gloves, the GRILL HEAT AID gloves don’t have pull ropes for fastening the gloves to the forearms.

However, that doesn’t mean they’ll slip off when you’re using it. In fact, there are four different sizes available although our review model was the one size fits all variant which arguably. If you have smaller hands, there is the small-sized glove to choose from.

The GRILL HEAT AID gloves are made from high-quality Aramid fabric materials and have a rough texture to help with the grip. Internally, there is a cotton lining that provides cushion and comfort for the hands.

Conclusion

Why risk having hot coals and steam hurt your precious hands when you can easily buy a grilling glove for your grilling activities? Cleaning the glove isn’t even a chore since you can toss some of them into a dishwasher or simply hand-wash.

And if storage is a problem for you, there are charcoal grills and even grill prep tables that have storage spaces underneath.

I have a pair of GEEKHOM gloves. It can be inconvenient to use them to handle items with different shapes and sizes.
