Grill Light Buying Guide: What You Should Know
What are the things to look out for when you start shopping for grill lights? Let’s find out!
Gooseneck or Handle-Mounted?

Grill lights are made in different styles and shapes.
You’ll find models such as the gooseneck mounted light, the handle mounted lights and the ones that stand on the table. The gooseneck styled lights have adjustable necks and also require a surface to attach to.
On the other hand, the handle mounted lights are designed to be mounted on grill handles. You should take note of the handle on your grill and be sure it fits the handle.
Durability/Build Quality
As we already know, the build quality of a product determines its durability. A good grill light ought to be durable and strong enough to last long. It should also be weatherproof and at the same time, heat resistant.
For a light that will be subjected to heat at high temperatures, plastic parts are a deal-breaker. This, however, doesn’t mean that your grill lights may not have plastic parts. They will but these parts will not be exposed to the light.
Brightness
One factor that influences the brightness of a light is the number of bulbs in it. For LED lamps, the number of LEDs makes it bright. Having at least 3 LEDs is a good place to start. Fortunately, many of the grill lights on the market are quite bright – with many having more than 6 LEDs.
Power Source

If you have a permanent outdoor grill, then we suggest installing a permanent light over the area where the grill sits.
On the other hand, if you don’t have a permanent grill or you don’t want to be keeping your grill outdoors, get a portable grill light that is battery-powered.
The battery-powered grill lights will save you the stress of wiring lights to your grill every time you want to use it. But you must take note of the battery life of the lights.
Adjustable
Imagine having a grill light you’re using focusing its beam to the side of the grill! You’ll be so angry with the light when your meat burns on one side and is undercooked on the other. This is why it is important to get lights that are adjustable.
As we mentioned earlier, the gooseneck styled lights have adjustable necks to help you direct the light beam to a particular spot.
Magnetized Base/Attachment Clamp
A good grill light must have an attachment clamp that locks it in place when it is being used. Some do have magnetic bases for attachment to metal surfaces, so if your grill has a metal surface, you can use the magnetic base.

In the lines below, just about half a dozen grill lights and pointed out their weaknesses and strengths. We’re optimistic that you’ll find a light that appeals to you when you’re done reading this article.

#1. Best Grill Light – LED Concepts 12 Super Bright LED BBQ Grill Light
Type: Gooseneck
Features: 24-inch extended adjustable gooseneck, clamp for attachment, magnetic base, battery-powered, 30000 hours, 12 LEDs, waterproof, heat resistant.
Right off the bat, we chose the LED Concepts Grill Light as our top pick for a couple of reasons. First, it is uniquely designed – with its 24-inch gooseneck design and the flexibility of adjusting it, there’s no doubt it’s worth owning.
Secondly, it offers a considerable bright light; it is bright enough to momentarily blind you if you look at it directly for a few minutes. It’s brightness somewhat reminds us of some of the outdoor solar lights we talked about not long ago.
The LED Concepts 12 Super Bright LED BBQ Grill Light features 12 LEDs and draws its power from 3 replaceable AAA batteries. In addition, it has a magnetic base that attaches firmly to magnetic surfaces without flinching.
It also features a clamp for easy screwing unto surfaces. We do have an issue with the clamp type. The clamp screw head should have been hexagonal in design for easy screwing and unscrewing especially when you have oily hands.

#2. RVZHI Barbecue 3600 Grill Light
Type: Handle-mounted
Features: 10 super-bright LEDs, handle mounting hardware, water and heat resistant, 50000 hours lifespan, 3600 rotation, and 1800 swiveling, waterproof rating.
The RVZHI Barbecue 3600 Grill Light is a high-quality handle-mounted grill light designed for mounting on grill lids. It is battery-powered and uses 3 AAA batteries that are user-replaceable and super easy to change.
Given its design, it doesn’t feature a gooseneck like the LED Concepts 12 Super Bright LED BBQ Grill Light we reviewed above. However, this doesn’t mean it’s not adjustable. It swivels up to 180 degrees and has a rotating angle of up to 360 degrees. This will undoubtedly provide you with enough light whichever direction you want it.
The RVZHI Barbecue 3600 Grill Light sports 10 LEDs in each of the light heads and they’re quite bright. Overall build quality is good, therefore, it is not surprising to know that the light has an IPX8 waterproof rating in addition to being able to withstand up to 180 degrees heat.
To fasten the light to your grill, there’s a clamp with a hexagonal head screw that makes it easy to fix it even when your hands are wet or oily.

#3. KOSIN Magnetic Base Barbecue Grill Light
Type: Gooseneck
Features: Magnetic base, 360 degrees flexible gooseneck, 9 bright LEDs for each light head, water and heat resistant, uses 6 AAA batteries.
The KOSIN Magnetic Base Barbecue Grill Light is one grill light that will shine its way into your heart – if you don’t mind the fact that it has a magnetic base without any clamp. It shines brightly as a result of the 6 AAA batteries that power the light.
Many people may certainly not be pleased with the number of batteries you need to power the light when most of the other lights require only 3AAA batteries.
Let’s talk about the base. The KOSIN Grill Light has only a magnetic base. Therefore, if you don’t have a magnetic surface to attach it to when you’re grilling, you might as well opt for another light like the LED Concepts 12 Super Bright LED BBQ Grill Light which has both a magnetic base and a clamp for attachment.
The build quality of the KOSIN Grill Light is top-notch and it is both water and heat resistant. Unfortunately, the gooseneck isn’t as extended as we wanted but it still serves its purpose. As for the light intensity, the 9 LEDs give off a great deal of bright light.

The Yukon Glory light features an extended 23-inch gooseneck with a magnetic base and a clamp to go with it. They made the same mistake we complained about in the LED Concepts Grill Light – the use of a round head clamp screw.
We like the overall build quality of the grill. It is made from lightweight aluminum material and is definitely sturdy. With respect to endurance and durability, it is waterproof and heat resistant to a certain degree.
The Yukon Glory Grill Light draws its power from 3 AAA batteries.

Type: Gooseneck
Features: extended gooseneck, magnetic base, hexagonal screw headed clamp, 12 bright LEDs, 3AAA batteries.
The Livin’ Well Magnetic BBQ Grill Light is not entirely different from the other gooseneck-styled grill lights. But it addresses our major complaints and includes a hexagonal styled clamp screw head to make it easy to screw the clamp even when your hands are oily.
As expected, this light sits on a 24-inch extended gooseneck. It rotates up to 360 degrees and the 12 bright LEDs cast a bright light on anything it’s shone upon, thanks to the 3 AAA batteries that power it.
The LEDs have a working lifespan of about 30000 hours which is more than a long time. We appreciate the magnetic base as well as the option to use a clamp to fasten the light to your grill or prep table.
In all, the Livin’ Well Magnetic BBQ Grill Light is one grill light that addresses the minor design flaw we saw on some other grill lights.
