Glow stones are a unique way to add a bit of ambient lighting to any outdoor area. Made from photoluminescent resin, they absorb sunlight during the day and slowly release it throughout the evening.
When scattered over walkways or throughout gardens, their soft glow is simply breathtaking alongside the colorful solar lights. Plus, they are equally as eye-catching lining fish tanks, on tables, and in various arts and craft projects.
We’ve rounded up 5 of the best glow stones and compared them head to head. Our goal is to make sure you get the best glow rocks to light up that lawn.
#1. Best Glow Stones – Jsbaby Garden Pebbles Glow Stones

Even better, they are super bright for up to two hours after the sun goes down. Afterward, they slowly fade to a chilly blue as the night progresses. If you’re looking for the best glow in the dark stones for your outdoor space, look no further.
Buying Glow Stones: Here’s What You Should Bear Know
We shared a few tips to have in mind when shopping for glow stones for your property and we hope you do find them helpful. The first factor we’ll consider is the size.
Size and Purpose
The size of the glow stones you want to buy is very important for three reasons: decorative, practical, and safety.
Why is this so? This is because the size is correlated to your purpose for buying the stones.
Let’s take a look at the aforementioned reasons below.
Practically, glow stones give off more glows when they’re in groups and so, if you want more glow from your stones, then you’d have to group them especially if you’re using the small stones. On the other hand, if you are using the larger stones, there’d be little or no need to group them together except you choose to do so.
With respect to decorative purposes, smaller stones come in handy for doing extra creative things like spelling names, drawing images and so on. You can’t use the larger sized glow stones to do this – would look quite awkward and probably unromantic if you do.
Safety-wise, if you have small children in your home, then it’d be best to use the larger stones or smaller stones with diameters of 3cm. Even at this diameter, there is a risk of choking when the children swallow these stones.
There are tons of colors to choose from. You can buy the full-color packs or buy mixed packs as you wish. To get a brighter glow of the same color, you’ll need to stack up more stones of the same color. If you want diverse colors, stack up stones of diverse colors together.
Our take – buy full packs of different colors and make the combinations yourself. If you must buy combined colors, buy only a few packs.
Material Used For the Stones
If you’re not careful, some of the materials used on some glow stones can be toxic to humans and pets too. Glow stones are made from materials that are phosphorescent, chemiluminescent or radioluminescent – pretty tough words to pronounce – but these materials are what gives the glow.
To be on the safe side, opt for glow stones made from materials that are phosphorescent since they have little to no toxicity when compared to the other two.
The Area You Need To Cover
Lastly, you should take into consideration the area you want to cover with the glow stones. The larger the outdoor space, the larger the number of glow stones you need to get the glow in the area and vice versa.
We recommend having a combination of both the small and the larger glow stones.
#1. Best Glow Stones – Jsbaby Garden Pebbles Glow Stones
Features: 5 color options available excluding the colorful option, provides 3 – 6 hours constant glow, no sharp edges, non-toxic, made from ABS glow in the dark plastic.
Like almost every other glow stone, the JsBaby Garden Pebbles give off scintillating and alluring glow light at night. It is made from ABS plastic material and is non-toxic and non-radioactive, giving them a certain degree of safety.
The Jsbaby Garden Pebbles Glow Stones are designed to glow and illuminate the surroundings for 3 – 6 hours. This duration is dependent on the amount of light the stones are exposed to during the day.
If you’re keeping the stones in a dark room, probably you want to plan a romantic evening meal indoors, then you should turn on as many lights as possible in the room to ensure that the stones get more than enough to keep them glowing for long.
The JsBaby Glow Stones have no sharp edges and are finely polished. Also, they are available in 5 different colors, all of which contains 200 pieces of stone per pack.
Features: blue-green color, gives off 3 – 8 hours of light depending on exposure, non-toxic, stones have diameters of above 0.5-inches.
For a two-color combination, take a look at the GeniusCells Glow Stones. They’re available in three color options: sky blue, green, and blue-green. In essence, this stone is meant for people who would love something cool and refreshing – just like the color blue.
The GeniusCells Glow in The Dark Concrete Garden Pebbles is made from real crushed stone material. It is non-toxic, can withstand high temperatures, will take a lot of hammering to crack, is non-fading, and is corrosion-resistant.
Every time you expose these glow stones to light, they charge up quickly and can glow for a period between 3 to 8 hours. The light usually begins to give way at the 4th hour or so. But as expected, the longer it receives light, the longer it will shine brightly.
As expected, they have smooth edges all around and unlike the Jsbaby Garden Pebbles Glow Stones, they come in packs of 100 pieces.
#3. Large Glow Stone – Blibly Solar Garden Lights Outdoor Glow Cobblestone
Features: battery-powered solar glow light, has about 8 hours battery life and working time, remote-controlled, easy to change stone color, integrated solar panel, IP68 waterproof and dustproof rating
The BliBly solar garden glow stone is one uniquely designed glow stone that is solar-powered. It features an integrated solar panel beneath the glowing LED lights which draw power from the 2000mAh battery on the stones.
This battery provides the stone with enough power to glow for up to 8 hours and more, although this depends on the amount of sunlight the stone is exposed to. We love the cool design of the stone – you would barely know its solar-powered unless you’re told.
More so, the Blibly Solar Garden Lights Outdoor Glow Cobblestone has some great features including the ability to change colors. It comes with a remote controller that gives you access to adjust brightness, turn the light off and on, select light modes as well as choose any color you like.
Available light modes include flash, strobe, fade, and smooth. If you’re looking for a nice large glow stone for your walkway and especially for the poolside, this is it – no doubt about that.
Features: small-sized glow stones, 200 pieces per pack, non-toxic, provides more than 3 hours of glowing light at night, 2-inches diameter.
We’re back to reviewing small glow stones and the Koltose Pink-Orange Glow Stone is top on our list. As expected, it is small in size – having a diameter between 1 and 2 inches. It is made from non-toxic material and offers a good glowing experience.
With respect to the glowing experience, you can get less than 6 hours of glow from the Koltose-By-Mash Pink-Orange Glow Stones. That’s on par with the glowing time of other glow stones on the market.
The Koltose-By-Mash stones come in packs that contain 200 pieces of each stone per pack. The pink-orange color does give out a good glow, but we think the yellow-colored stones give off much better glow probably because we’re used to having yellow light around us. A mixture of both colors should do some magic.
Features: oval-shaped, yellow-green color, heart-shaped variant available, gives a good glow, 3cm stone diameter, multiple color options, non-toxic, etc.
Last on our review list of the best glow pebbles is the Alan Stone Gravel Aquarium Glow Pebbles. It is perhaps the only stone we saw in the course of this review that offered a heart-shaped variant. If you’re planning a romantic evening, you should consider getting the heart-shaped variant.
Away from that, the Alan Stone glow pebbles are non-toxic – as expected – and give off a good glow. The stones are oval-shaped with diameters reaching about 3cm. With respect to their glowing power, they are able to glow for more than 3 hours depending on the amount of sunlight/light they receive.
If you’re not a fan of the yellow-green color, perhaps you’d like the yellow, sky blue or blue-green colors.
A mixture of colors and different sizes of glow stones can have a huge decorative effect on your outdoor space. Like we rightly mentioned at the beginning of this article, determine your purpose for buying glow stones and you’ll buy what perfectly suit your needs.
