The BCP Extruded Aluminum Gas Outdoor Fire Pit Table with Cover is an incredible addition to any deck or patio. With an elegant dark brown finish and a refined look, you’ll be impressing dinner guests and grabbing the neighbor’s attentions the second you fire it up.
Made of premium extruded aluminum, this propane fire pit is extremely light weight, resistant to rust and can be assembled in a flash. It ships in a 4’x4’x10” box packed full to the brim with Styrofoam, so be ready for some cleanup after assembly. If you’ve ever put together Ikea furniture you’ll have an idea of how simple the BCP Fire Pit Table is to assembly. We managed to set it up in a little over 30 minutes with two people and the included hex and Allen wrenches mean no buying extra tools for a one time project. It was also very easy to carry the individual components onto our back patio as they were feather light. Keep in mind you will need a screwdriver handy to connect the burner to the table top, so grab one before heading outside.
During assembly you’ll find the propane fire pit table comes with four leg levelers to ensure it is nice and even. It’s not fun to try and enjoy an evening of cocktails and hors d’oeuvres on a wobbly table. After putting the propane fire pit together we were happy to see that our unit had no dents or scratches. If your fire pit is damaged in anyway however, BCP has an excellent customer service team and quickly responds to any issues with their units either providing reduced prices or shipping replacements.
Unlike some of the smaller propane fire pits, the BCP Gas Outdoor Fire Pit Table had more than enough room for a full sized 20 lb. propane tank underneath. The included spring loaded door latch makes it easy to get the tank under the unit. We were quickly able to connect up the adapter and regulator and have it burn ready in no time. As a note you’ll need a double A battery to get the automatic lighter working as one is not included.
After assembling the fire pit we added in both of the included fire glass bags to the center of the unit and admired our handy work. The fire glass that ships with the unit is a standard clear glass color. If your looking for some colored options to spruce up your fire pit table, you’ll want to check out Starfire Glass as they offer quality fire glass in a wide range of colors. Once fully assembled you can tell this is a well-made and durable product with great space for plates, glasses, wine bottles and more on its 45”x 45” tabletop. At 23.5” tall the BCP Fire Pit Table is the perfect height for kicking back, relaxing and toasting some s’mores under the starlight. The included lid allows it to convert into a full sized table in case your saving the fire for later on in the evening.
We also took a look at the included cover and were very unimpressed with it. After a quick test we determined it was not waterproof in the least and was, at best, a glorified dust cover. You’ll want to pick up something like the Duck Covers Elite 50-Inch Square Fire Pit Cover right away to ensure your new fire pit table stays in pristine condition.
With the sun going down it was finally time to fire up the BCP Extruded Aluminum Gas Outdoor Fire Pit Table. From researching prior to purchasing this unit we knew that the included automatic lighter was a bit hit or miss, sometimes not working at all. However we turned the knob to low and pushed it in for a full ten seconds and were easily able to get our first flames.
We found that the automatic ignition button was a bit difficult to reach since it was so far under the table, but the advantage of the larger tabletop far outweighed this small complaint. If you happen to have a BBQ lighter around it makes for a great alternative ignition source. Just as a note, after ignition you’ll want to let the unit warm up for about four to five minutes before cranking up the flames to ensure it stays lit.
We were pleased to find that the unit had a flame adjustment knob that allows us to go from a 1” flame all the way up to an impressive 15” flame with just a quick twist. With the stars coming out the beautiful flames were kicking out some serious heat and creating a great mood for some evening drinks. The amount of heat this unit was able to produce would make it an excellent winter fire pit as well. After running the unit for over an hour we noticed the bottom was still nice and cool, making this a perfect fire pit table for wooden decks. We sometimes find that a fire pit can get too hot on the bottom and put wooden decks at risk.
After a few cold beers, homemade Spanish tapas and a round of s’more we decided that the table was the perfect size for entertaining. We had four adults gathered around and a few children running in and out of the fire light, yet had room for more. Not to mention the plethora of food, drinks and phones that were scattered around the fire pit. We were left extremely impressed with the size of the BCP Aluminum Outdoor gas fire pit and couldn’t have asked for anything more. After one last glass of chocolate dessert wine for the ladies and a round of martinis for the men, it was time to turn in for the night. A quick twist of the flame adjustment knob was enough to shut down the flames and cap off a great evening.
Overall this is an excellent product made from lightweight, yet durable aluminum materials. It has more than enough room to keep an entire party entertained and all their food and drinks safely atop a gorgeous and spacious tabletop. Installation was a snap and while lighting it could have been easier, the looks of the fire pit table more than make up for the slight difficulty. We would absolutely recommend that you grab the Duck Cover though as the included rain cover is terrible and should immediately be thrown away. If you’re looking for what may arguably be the best propane fire pit for a romantic evening or the ultimate outdoor man cave accessory, look no further.
